Since 1956, the Richard Squeri Insurance Agency has been offering its clients a wide range of insurance policies from multiple, national and regional insurance companies. Our History

Our Agency was founded by Richard "Dick" Squeri in 1956. He was a proud decorated veteran of the United States Army. He was drafted in 1943. During a Patrol in Italy in 1944, he stepped on a German S-mine and lost his left leg below the knee. For his brave service in WW11, he was honored with a Purple Heart & 2 Bronze Stars. He was a life lifelong member of the Disabled American Veterans. Within 3 weeks of his honorable discharge he landed his 1st job with Eastern Airlines in New York and then New Haven promoting Air travel. He then attended an Aetna Insurance Program where he learned the insurance business. He opened his own insurance agency representing Aetna and other markets in 1956.

He hired Alan House a property underwriter for Aetna in 1973 and sold the agency to Alan House in 1987. Alan House was raised in Guilford, CT and graduated from University of Hartford. Alan and Dick were both longtime active members in our Community serving as Branford Rotarians. Alan was an agent for 15 years prior to becoming owner of the agency. He loves to Travel throughout the US and loves the outdoors. He served our community, his clients and the Squeri Family for over 40 + years.

Alan is happily retired with his wife Jane since 2013 when he sold the agency to Gerry Mann longtime resident of Branford. Gerry grew up in Guilford CT and moved to Branford Point in 1993 where he and his wife Karen raised 3 children. Gerry is a graduate of Southern Connecticut State University. He started his insurance career in claims for General Accident Group in CT.in 1984. He them moved into the sales side working as a agent for Sentry Insurance in 1988. He then was promoted into sales management for Sentry Insurance . He worked in Chicago IL and all the Northeast states managing many sales offices in the property and casualty divisions. He then grabbed the opportunity to own his own independent insurance agency by meeting up with Alan House in 2011 purchasing the agency in 2013. The offices originally were located at 698 Main St. Branford, CT. across the street from St Mary's Church. Gerry purchased the office building on the green located at 197 Montowese St. Branford, CT. "The starting line of the famous "Father's Day Branford Road Race" where Gerry has run the race 29 times. The building used to be the law firm of Attorney John Lindsey and Frank Dumark longtime time residents of Branford. Gerry is a lifetime boater, a Rotarian, avid golfer, sports fan and he is proud member of the Branford Yacht Club Serving over 10 plus years as a Trustee and Commodore in 2017. Gerry is an advocate for children who are inflicted with cancer. His son Jordan an agent for the agency is a cancer survivor from the age of 8. He is a supporter of Camp Rising Son , The Hole in The Wall Gang Camp and any organization that helps kids and families when they are facing these challenges. Our story continues as we hope we can continue serve our community and build new relationships through service of helping others.
